‘Let the poles be a part of your life to improve your wellbeing’

Feedback October 2011

Nordic Walking gives you the complete walking experience, exercising the upper and lower body. Walking with the group is great fun and we also enjoy the social side of things, like the post – walk coffee. The warm-up and cool-down exercises using the poles are fantastic and really complete a good all-round exercise routine. Thoroughly recommend it!

Since starting ‘Nordic Walking’ with Annika , Di and I have both lost weight and are much fitter. The motivation for the weekly walking session is due to both Annika’s leadership and the good company.

I wouldn’t miss my Saturday morning Nordic Walk Group on the Trigg ocean walkway!!!!

Pole walking has strengthened my core, straightened my back & is a fun, social thing to do!

I purchased my poles at a Seniors Event in Bunbury in 2008. After I got used to them, which didn’t take long, I found that I could walk at a good pace easily for 40 to 50 minutes. That was something I could not do beforehand as I was restricted, having had a hip replacement in 2004. The poles helped reduce the stress on my joints so I was able to cover the distance without any discomfort. The benefits were amazing! I had great fun, enhanced my fitness and over a period of 18 months I shed 22 kilos. My GP told me that by doing the exercise combined with a better choice of food I prevented the onset of diabetes. I highly recommend the use of Axess Poles and the support I received from Annika.

I continue to walk with my poles three times weekly. I personally like walking locally and fairly early as I work fulltime and would find it difficult to join a group. I feel that using the poles is improving my core body strength and believe that if I'm walking I may as well gain the most benefit possible.

After being a passionate runner for many years, it was suggested to me by doctors to cut back on it, for the protection of my back. The running was increasingly aggravating my scoliosJan-09
is and putting my back into spasm. I'd already taken up swimming to protect it and also to work my upper body (as running is mostly about the legs!). Naturally - I couldn't stop the exercise and looked to find something new. I came across Annika on the web and met for a trial one Saturday morning. And what a surprise! A full body workout for the price of a walk next to the sea! What more can we ask for? After a walk I feel that my arms as well as my back have been exercised. Using the poles helps ensure that the arms are used. With normal power walking it's easy to let the arms drop when tired. Annika spends time teaching technique, various stretches and gives personal attention during the walks. We walk in groups with new and interesting people each week. It's fun, fulfilling and above all - great complete exercise!                                                                                          Heidi, Floreat, WA

Since 2005 I've become increasingly enthusiastic about Nordic Walking as a method of general conditioning. After an hour or more I feel a sense of upper limb conditioning as if I've been canoeing. I now feel there is more chance of bouncing and not breaking upper limbs if I were to fall. Apart from your skill and energy as a coach I think your Swedish poles are tops and boots are great! Thanks and regards and keep up the good work!
