POLE DIFFERENCES

As there are different poles out there, what to look for is not always easy. Nordic Walking Poles are not just ANY walking poles available, there are many different varieties.
Nordic Walking Poles are NOT the same as the Trekking Poles that have been around for years. Nordic Pole Walking is another concept than Trekking, and N.W poles are especially made for walks on ALL different surfaces such as asphalt, lawn areas, the beach or the in bush.
Nordic Walking Poles can however be used as Trekking Poles as they have spike tips underneath the asphalt damper.

Your Nordic Pole Walking Experience will be the best if

- the poles have got good asphalt dampers to make the planting of the poles as “bump free” as possible on the asphalt and to not be too noisy…

- the poles have comfortable half gloves that supports your wrists during the walk instead of a strap – those will “hold on” to you so don’t have to hold too tight on to the pole to avoid tense fingers

- the poles are light weight and made of a strong, durable material that will last you for years e.g. won’t rust or be bent easily

- there are spare parts available to get hold of when worn out, e.g. asphalt damper and spike tip, and that it IS possible at all to change parts without having to buy a new pair…

- you have the right pole length . If buying fixed poles, make sure you have the exact length that is comfortable for you! Sometimes it is actually 5 cm lower than recommended length, and may not be noticed/felt until you have used them a few times. Best to be sure and try some out first if possible OR to get telescopic ones that also can be adjusted for more people in the family AND also can to be adjusted to be longer as your walks may become faster and you’d like to increase the workout!

- you know the locking system on the telescopic poles is secure and of good quality not to make the poles collapse during the walk
